Gaurikund
Gaurikund is the roadhead for a trek to Kedarnath. The village has some hot springs and a temple dedicated to Gauri.
Gaurikund serves as a departure point for treks to Kedarnath and beyond. The trek to Kedarnath is a 14 km steep hike on a well made path uphill for most of the time. During the trek one will climb some 1500 meters in height during the 14 km hike.
Many hotels, resthouses and dhabas serve the traveller. Supplies like food and garments can easily be purchased in the village. Porters, poneys and daulis are available. Esspecially during high season or special days it is best to book these the night before assumed departure.
